If you're talking about a Windows NT (XP and Vista) computer, I recommend a bootable version of Active Password Changer. It lets you boot from the CD and then reset the password on your account. To use it, you'll need a blank CD and another computer to burn the disc. If you need further help with this, feel free to email me.
Now, there's also the case where other people can still get on. If you still have an Administrator account available on your computer, you can just log in to that and then reset your password from there. Also, if you can log in as Administrator under safe mode, you can reset your password that way. This only works with XP Pro, though.

Log in under safe mode and reset the password from there...or make a new account as administrator and then change it.
