Urge to push?

Has anyone gotten an urge to push before any real contractions? I've had that feeling today like i need to push but have only had a few BH contractions. It's like I have to take a BM but i know it's not. It doesn't hurt when I'm sitting but is painful when i stand up. I asked this Q a little while ago but I think I described it wrong cuz everyone thought i was talking about pelvic pressure and thats not what it is. I'm 36 wks preg and baby has already dropped.

Update:

Also this is my second preg and i never experienced this before

I am 38 weeks and really noticed this about two or three weeks ago when my little guy dropped. Everytime I stand up I feel this pressure and REAL pain and I just wanted to push...but the sensation of pushing was painful. I talked to my doctor about it and she tested me for UTI because she said that it could actually be a symptom. When my test came back negative she said that the baby was sitting right on my cervix and it was just pressure. I know that you don't want to hear just pressure, but that is what the doctor told me....good luck and god bless.

PS....it only got worse the farther along!

  • Cal Labor and delivery at the hospital and ask them what they think. If they are busy it might take a lil while for them to return your call. However I'm sure they get calls like that all the time. They will know more than we would.

I didnt have that with either of my pregnancies. The only urge to push was delivering them.

EDIT*** Yea I changed my mind after reading other answers...go ahead and head to the hospital just in case. Rather waste a trip then have the baby at home.

Go to the ER! My first baby was early and your BH contractions may be the REAL thing!!! Mine were! They didn't check me when I told them about the BH and then Later I started to bleed, Well when I was admitted to the ER I was only 10 min away from having the baby!! DON"T push but go get checked!! This could save you from having the baby at Home!!!!

go to the hospital! i had this with my 3rd baby, and like you i had no painful contractions, just the BM feeling & a not really strong urge to push. i called my dr & she met me at the hospital, i was already dialated to 8cm and had my daughter 40 mins later! good luck and congratulations!

I really don't know, I never had that happen to me. I'd call your doctors office. It's possible you're going into labor. I went into labor and didn't even know it. No contractions or anything. It's a good thing I had an appointment that day.

you should go and get checked out, some women never have real contractions (those are the lucky ones) some skip over the first stages of labor so you need to get checked out to be sure you aren't in labor. unless you plan on delivering at home

Never had that happen (Didn't have BH till 38 weeks 1 day). I would call you OB and see what they.

    Good luck!!

Call your doctor and go to the ER. I had the same problem and It was because my blood pressure was high. They ended inducing right away.
