Why--for the second night in a row--can't I send a genealogy answer without ERROR 999 showing up?

I can submit answers to any other area but this one. Last night I could answer Homework Help, Trivia, etc. questions with no problems, but could not submit genealogy answers. I even ran a virus scan to be sure that wasn't the cause, but no viruses were found (just some stupid adware program for HotBar, which I uninstalled 2 years ago!!).

You get error 999 when posting a link that is overposted such as wikipedia, utube, photobucket, etc. The "hot" websites. You see, right now there are between 100 million and 200 million wikipedia links posted on yahoo answers for example. Someone is clicking on those at a rate of 20 to 30 per second. It is overloaded. Clogged and congested. By contrast, if you post some obscure website that has no traffic at all, it will probably post.

The same thing is happening to me Jan. I also did a virus scan which took forever!! I did manage to finally answer a question after at least 5 attempt in genealogy. At first I got the 999 error then I took out the link to rootsweb and it seemed to work. Maybe a server problem?

    EDIT:

Just found out that even without pasting a link and only typing the name of the site didn't work either, so I typed rootsweb(dot)com and that worked. Seems ridiculous, but it works.

Earlier I called my ISP, spent a 1/2 hour on hold and another 20 min with a tech trying to fix it. It would have been nice to receive a message from Yahoo

That has happened to me several times, lately (in more than one category). Sometimes, the problem resolves by itself after a couple of hours, sometimes it doesn't--I had to re-start my computer one night to have a question accepted (well, I'm not sure if that's what did the trick, but the question was accepted after that). =)

Are you including links in your questions?

I get that "Erorr 999" response when I try to link to Photobucket. If I remove the link in my question/answer everything is fine.
