Yes because the universe in constructed in a manor that modern science has not yet figured out. Therefore many scientific things would seem like magic to people from our culture with our current "scientifically accepted" theories.

Do people use actual science(passed down from ancient times) to perform spells and rituals, yes every day in every city of the world, this is the secret knowledge kept by most of the worlds secret societies.

Yes: magic does exist as most witches and wizards are as powerfull as the amount of demons they con summon, comission and deploy under their command. These demons opperate on a spiraitual level, as our natural eye's or mostly shielded to supernatural, a demon moving, lifting or throwing something in the natural appears somewhat magic.
