Doesn't matter you'll be in the woods.

Somewhere discreet. I took my 5 year old grandson camping this past summer- peeing in the woods was a breeze. It was the pooping that had me concerned. I bought the BEST camping potty. It looks like a plastic barrel with a seat (and lid) and all I did was buy heavy duty plastic garbage bags to line it. The kid (or adult) poops- take out the poop filled plastic bag, tie it in a knot an dump it. It worked great! I believe I bought it at a Wal-Mart.
P.S. I also purchased a small pop up tent to use as the "Poop Tent." This allowed for privacy as well as avoiding stinking up the sleeping tent.

For privacy, I would recommend a bush, but be sure to scout it very carefully for poison oak and ivy. Don't actually let any of his skin touch anything, because you never know what something is. I guess if privacy isn't much of an issue, you can let him go behind a tree, I suppose. I've never done any of that, though.

yeah kids that age have like no embarrasment, around that age he's probably still running around in the sprinklers in his birthday suit, so in the woods should be no problem. tree, bush, just on the ground is all good, it's part of camping. number 2's are different though, you have to dig a hole at least as deep as half your forearm to your fingertips and make sure it's buried real well so it'll decompose properly.

Both bushes and trees are acceptable, if tall enough. Be careful, poison ivy can grow pretty tall and you don't want to brush the leaves. It's also bad luck to pee on a rattlesnake...
What better time to learn that as a male, the world is your urinal!
(Now, when he has to poop you'll have a real problem...)

He's a boy, he'll enjoy it. Just make sure he's not like my brother who continued to pee in the front yard for months after our first camping trip!!

In the woods it doesn't matter where his pees as long as its not in your camp site. Have fun and be careful.

If you are in the forest I don't think it will matter. Try not doing it behind the rangers house though, they frown upon that.
