This is really weird I know, but the exact same thing you're describing happens to me every time I drink Koolaid, Gatorade, and all those juice kind of things.. I don't know if this happens to everyone but how you described it fit what happens to me perfectly.
When it happens to me it normally lasts like a day or so, the doctor told me it could be an allergic reaction to the dyes in the drinks.. so maybe you're allergic to something you drank or ate.. you should see your doctor so he could be specific on telling you what you're allergic to so it doesn't happen again.

I'd put my money on acid reflux as the cause of the problem.
First, you say you have an "acid" feeling and your mouth tastes "sour", which are cardinal signs/symptoms of gastric (i.e., "acid") reflux.
The bad breath can be caused by reflux, as can the sore tongue and throat.
There are several precautions you can take:
Don't over eat.
Nothing by mouth 3 hours before bed.
Avoid spicy, fatty, or acidic foods.
Avoid caffeine, chocolate, and alcohol.
Sleep with the head of your bed elevated; two pillows should do the trick.
Try a proton-pump inhibitor, like Prilosec or Zantac.

since bad breath can be caused by different factors, you should be able to know first what is the underlying cause of your bad breath. note that bad breath treatments can depend on what is the cause of it.
bad breath cause maybe lack of oral hygiene, dry mouth, smoking, alcohol, medications, sinus, eating garlicky meal, gum disease and other stomach related health illness.
whatever the cause is, it is best that you consult a dentist to help you figure out the cause and to get the right treatment. good oral hygiene is always important to keep the mouth healthy, clean and fresh like proper brushing and flossing.

sweetlady - this may sound weird, but some WOMEN (due to hormones) develop an irritation to FLUORIDE.The main symptom is a SORE TONGUE.
Switch to a non-fluoride toothpaste for a while.
Also, if you are using Zinc tablets (like ColdEase) stop using them for a while
