Is it time to fire Willie Randolph and Omar Minaya?
Mistake after mistake. No control over the team. Bad contracts, overrated players sold to be much better than they really are (That's you Jose Reyes). It's time to bring in a whole new regime.
For the love of god, someone get Tony LaRussa in New York would ya!!!!!!!

Willie should have been fired after last year. He has had enough time now and has not proved a thing. He shows no emotion! What really got me was in the Sunday night game against the Yankees. With the disputed no home run call on Delgado, he did a little talking and then just gave up. It took Jerry Manuel to get fired up and HE got kicked out, not Willie! If he showed a backbone and stuck up for the team, maybe they would play for him. It just seems to me that they have already given up on the year. Then to get swept in a four game series by Atlanta...that just puts the dirt on the coffin for me. I have been a Mets fan since the early 80's and can truly say for the first time that I am DISGUSTED with the team's play. Before when they were bad, they had a BAD TEAM. This team has talent, but none of them are playing up to their talent and I think it's time to show Willie the door!

I pray that Randolph's latest idiocy (accusing the guys who sign his checks of racism) will finally get the job of removing him from NY done. He should never have been hired, and absolutely had to be fired after 2007. So Willie thinks the criticism has something to do with being black. HAhaha! That's so hilariously abserd i can hardly address it. Willie Randolph has gotten many passes that managers in NY simply do not get specifically because he is black. There is a very good reason Randolph got passed up on so many managing jobs before the mets stepped in crap, and it has nothing to do with his skin, it is because he does not have the tools to make good day to day decisions nor the tools to motivate his players - 2 things that anyone coaching any sport in any league has to have.Art Howe manged for 2 years(2003-2004) and didn't win so he was fired. Why didn't anyone say that "Art Howe is an idiot" or that couldn't manage- because he was stuck with a terrible roster and no way to improve it because of the moronic moves made by Steve Phillips. He got only a 2 year chance to prove he could win with a group of has-beens and never was's. Willie was handed the kind of roster managers salivate over. This is Willie's 4th year and Mets are as inconsistant as any team has ever been. Art Howe's team lacked real talent and he got only 2 years, this team has as much talent as any in MLB but lacks leadership and discipline. I say that the Wilpon's should call up Art Howe and apologize, then talk to him about taking over this team.

The time to fire Willie was last year. Let's face it a team just doesn't bounce back after a fall like that! But more than that...the way he over/under-manged at that time to not be able to squeeze out 1-2 more wins to make the post-season (Leaving B Lawrence in past the 4th inning, when you know that when he falls apart, just to get him the decision...stupid! Keeping Carlos D. so high in the line-up when he was struggling for so long) The guy should have been let go...when he was not the whole damn house should have been cleared to wake up the players and prevent the hangover we fans are currently suffering through. Damn it, now you got me upset!

Randolph should have been let go after the meltdown late last season. Now, this dysfunctional club and a manager gripping is completely on the desk of Minaya. What should happen is Minaya being given the directive to fire Randolph...if he refuses, then he must resign or also get canned.

Willie Randolph disappointed me a great deal the other day. His comments dug deep. Not just because I liked him as a player. (Although I'm a Phillies fan), but because he seemed to be above such remarks.
Whether he took them back or not, it's too late. He played the race card and for that I will never root for him again. The world IS truly Black & White..........and that's too bad.

OMAR ? WHY OMAR....the Mets was a nobody organization until Omar got there , now the place is almost always full and they get as much attention as the yankees get in new york, before omar, the mets were at the bottom. do you really want steve phillips back?
- Anonymous1 decade ago
the whole team must go! mets are biggest underachievers, other than yankees, in baseball! i love both new york teams, but!! am sick and tired of the l lousy play by both!! man, no playfofs for either this year!! mets will finish 4th place in 2008!

the manager isn't the problem. Omar probably needs to go, but you know what would really solve the mets' problems... re-signing Mike Piazza.. yeah. think about it.
