How do I connect my home theater system to my computer?
I want to play blueray movies, video clips, music, and maybe do some gaming so that the sound comes through the speaker system of my home theater system.
I have a 780i motherboard and RAZER BARACUDA soundcard, both offer 7.1 channel of audio, but my home theater only has 5.1.
So, how can I get 5.1 sound from my computer through these speakers?
ps: I have it set up with an rca analog cable with 1/8th connection at the end, but it sounds analog. I want digital sound. How???

That's fine. 7.1 is backwards compatible with 5.1. However you cannot use the red/white audio plugs - those only do stereo sound.
The soundcard should have an optical audio or digital-coax output. Simply connect that to your home theater system as an input. Then set your home theater to use that input, and there you go - your computer's audio output now on your home theater.
I don't know the maximum length of cable that you can use for optical audio but digital coax should be good for about 50' without any degradation of signals.

It relies upon on the audio card on the computing device. If it has a digital enter, connect the optical or coaxial output of the DVD to it, then you easily could desire to go with the audio source interior the audio software. it extremely is lots less difficult in case you basically use a DVD force on the computing device. in case you haven't any longer have been given one, they're very low-priced.
