The dreaded E word. pPPPLLLEAASE help me?
I cut myself and wear black, have depression, bipolor disorder, ocd, panik and anxiety disorder, and have attempted suicide. Everybody calls me emo, and it really insults me. It just kills me when people even say the word emo, referring to me or not. It is just a huge insult that hits me right where it hurts .
I have asked ppl not to say that word in front of me, but that only makes them say it more, or say why who cares. I want to know either how to get over it, or how to get them to not say it.
Advice? Please? Even my best friend in the world has said things like "Well im not emo like you" really saying it seriusly, but not wantng to insult me. I hate being called that stupid word, and am trying to change the whole cutting thing, but it cant happen yet. I am one for wearing dark colors, and hate pink or colors like that, so im not gonna change my hole personallity...but does anyone have anysuggestions or am i just being stupid?

first off i see your point with the whole labeling thing being frustrating to you. i really suggest that you seek some help with the cutting thing though. That is unhealthy and it should be resolved and helped.
As far as the clothes...thats your style so do not change it. If you are truly not emo and its just the way you dres sthen dont worry what other poeple think. explain to them that that you do not like taht word and you dont feel like it is an accurate depiction. just talk to people and if they still do it, ignore it and do not worry about it. You could also see a therapist of school counselor and ask any of theur advice.
I hope i helped and good luck:)

hey hun, firstly you are not alone. are you getting some support right now. i am a fellow self harmer but have not harmed in 9 weeks.
try to explain to your friends that you understand that they think you are an emo but that it really bothers you when they call you this. explain to them, if they are any sort of friends they will understand.
if you feel like you cant get the support you need right now, there are plenty of forums out there for people with issues with self harm, depression, bi-polar etc. one that i have found useful and has really saved my life a number of times is NSHN. it is all anounomous and no-one needs to know who you. the site is full of people in the same postion who support each other.
good luck hun.

You may not like being called Emo, but from everything you have said you fit the stereo type of being it. Some people fake it because they think it is cool, but it is just who you are. You shouldn't get offended by it or change who you are because of it.
It's either be called emo or be called goth I guess it would be your choice =P

It sounds like you know who you are, so do your best to display who you are on the inside. I don't doubt that people want to know that person. You sound like a nice gal, so keep the chin up! God knows you and loves you for who you are!
