No time for sustainability?

Yes, it is true. Doing things that are more sustainable, both for the planet and for our own health, are often more time consuming. Many people cite this as a reason as to why they can't do the things that are suggested as ways to lighten our impact.

However, the average resident of the United States watched 4.5 hours of television per day in 2007. This amount is down from an average of 7 hours per day in 1991. ( I would guess due to a rise in internet use)

Still, that is 4.5 hours per day spent looking at a box. And that is an average number, so while many people watch less than that, many people also watch more.

4.5 hours is over a quarter of your waking life if you are getting the reccomended 8 hours of sleep every night.

If you don't have enough time to do things that are healthy for yourself and your community, how much time are you spending watching TV? And on a larger scale, what impacts do you think that this drain of time and human attention is having on our culture?

I do watch too much TV.

But I always have time to recycle, compost (well, when I get the bees out of the bin, anyway), maintain the native plant garden and the fruit trees, and I try to purchase products that are produced locally.

It's not the lack of time, I suspect, it's the lack of an inclination to develop good habits and incorporate sustainable activities into your overall lifestyle.

On your last paragraph: look how many people don't take the time to eat right and exercise? How do we expect people to take care of a planet when they don't take care of themselves?

That said, time to take the dog for a walk!

You must be aware that lots of the population are only here to justify the whole existence of human race.we need this number, those percentages or the whole thing won't work.how can all of us be scientists, geniuses n so on then who r going to take your garbage/**** away?everyone has their role to play even in a natural selection course.they r not doing nothing or like they dint care, they r here to do nothing so someone/groups of people that can really do something are gonna do the right thing so to let the majority stays the same by doing nothing,u got it.
