i have a 99 frod escort 4 cyl. automatic.
it has stared to jump out of over drive to a lower gear and it makes it run a higher RPM of course.what could that be?
do i have to buy a new tranmy? if this is repairable, how much can i expect to spend?

I think your car has an electric lockup torque converter that could be the problem.

I think that your tranny is on its way out and it will be costly to fix it being front wheel drive but you can look for another one at scrap yards and look at parts trader.com and see what you can find
