It depends upon the type and severity of the bite. if it is a shallow scratch type wound then you may be fine to clean it with peroxide, Alcohol, or iodine and keep it covered and clean until it heals (antibiotic ointment is a good idea as well).
If it is a puncture it is much more serious as punctures are much more susceptible to infection. You should flush it out with any of the three listed above (it will hurt a lot) and whatever you do do not let it close on the top until the below is healed.
If you can't remember the last time you had a tetanus shot you should go ahead and go to the doctor anyway so you can get one. if you are worried about it go to the doctor.
Bite wounds are not something to take lightly. They get infected VERY easily. Two weeks ago one of my coworkers had to go to the ER after a bite wound got infected and she wound up with blood poisoning.
You also need to find out if the dog is current on all of its shots. If it is not or you can't find out you defiantly need to go and see a doctor.
Good luck and take care!

how old are you? you can spell vaseline but not bandaid. if it is a severe bite, go to a doctor. if you know the dog or know it's owner and it's not a bad bite use peroxide and antibiotic ointment. you twit

If it is a deep cut then you may need stitches, so you would have to see a doctor. Otherwise, just clean it up like you would any other cut. Polysporin works better than vaseline!
Do you know the dog? Can you be certain that it was up to date on vaccinations (rabies, etc)? If not, you should see your doctor anyway.

depends on the bite and where it is at. if it is deep then see your doctor it might need stiches, but always clean it with peroxide and put antibiotic ointment on it and keep it clean at much as possible.
