More info please! Deep bite? Pucture wound? (on a person or a dog?)

Without more info - I'm going to assume it's a shallow 'love bite' on a person and say - clean well with soap and water - and use a triple antibiotic ointment and cover with a band aide.

Ouch! How deep is it? My sister had her arm mauled by a dog, we took her to the ER and all they did for her was soak it in Betadine for 45 minutes. They say you can't stitch up dog bites because that locks all the bacteria under the skin and you are likely to get an infection. The worst part about my sister's ordeal was that she was trying to break up a dog fight between her dog and my daughter's dog with her bare hands! Bad idea. I brought all the certificates to prove rabies vaccinations were current but they said they are obligated under law to report it to Animal Services. So...we ended up having to quarenteen both dogs for 2 weeks and if either one of them had another incident they would be taken away and destroyed. My sister wished she'd never done anything. She said she could have soaked her own arm. Don't know if this answers your question....

Clean it out really good with regular soap and water! Then you should go to the ER and then report the bite!

You need to make sure the dog who bit you was current on their rabies shot!

Sorry you got bit, and hope you heal fast and that the pet was current on Rabies VX.

The first thing you do is wash the area with soap and water. Then assess the wound and if necessary seek medical attention.
