if governments fixed the price of oil the oil companies would simply cut back production to protect their profits, and we would have a shortage of affordable oil products...what's the sens of being able to afford something you can't find? let the market find its own level, as painful as that might be...if the governments want to do something positive, start up a manhattan project-type search for viable alternatives to oil...we built the a bomb, we put men on the moon...there's nothing we can't accomplish if we put our minds to it

No, Westerns should stop being slaves to automobile companies that produces big SUV's, and large cars that get 8-15 miles to a gallon. Westerns should car pool, walk more often and take a bus or train, maybe twice a week to work. Please do not ask for the government's assistance, it will only get worst. BTW, the oil companies are only charging extortionate prices because the demand is there and the Western currency is slowly losing it's high value against other countries. I believe there is enough oil (for now anyway). Well, let's stop demanding, so the oil companies will have a whole lot of supplies left on hand to get rid of real cheap. Westerns need a life style change, stop using so much gas, walk more and share a ride.

Supplies are more than adequate for demand! I know of no shortages any where, do you? And if supply is keeping pace during war time then there can't be any shortages! If supply is meeting demand then something else is effecting the law of supply and demand! Perhaps it's the value of the currency that is used to purchase the oil or it's derivatives! Perhaps this is all to force the price up, so more profits can be had from the same amount sold! If the price of necessities are going to climb this much this fast then wages had better climb equally as high and fast! Perhaps oil industry profits had better drop before more volatile things happen first! We don't need a war overseas to control the source of supplies. What we need is a war against the oil industry and the republicans that support their decisions as if they were merely an extension of the industry! To wage war on republicans simply vote all of them out once and for all time!

Oil needs competition. Period. Economics 101.

Hydrogen is the only source that can produce the power that oil can. Everyone always shoots it down, however. And Hydrogen is the only way that environmentalist get what they want as well as the rest of us.

For those who think this this is impossible I have one word for you----Nanotechnology. The work is being done now and has been moving forward for a few years now.

There is no need to complain about oil---simply defeat it.

Imagine looking up one day and reading: Unleaded $5.06/gallon; the other reads: Hydrogen 0.75/gallon. If you were driving by that every day which one would you choose?

Only the market can make this a reality. Not government.

That's the way to go to war with oil Companies. The rest of it is just to make people feel like they got the big guy but doesn't get us any more energy then we had before.

Did you think of the upward thrust in value became by using an develop in call for because of the fact that this morning? Or that expenditures declined because of the fact Bush suggested hes going to permit drilling? Or that they rose back whilst a typhoon is forecast? Or that Oil made their income jointly as finding to develop production so we could have much lower priced oil? i do no longer understand who's so simpleminded that they might think of that way, yet its glaring some do. each now and then i assume you throw some crumbs to the birdbrains. Oil is in no way going to be much lower priced back. no longer if we sell the country perfect out from under us to distant places oil agencies. that's what we do, please learn the vendors and shareholders of the oil agencies. every physique of them that's no longer nationalized, is owned by making use of multinationals.

So far, in the last 50 years we have declared war on:

Poverty- umm let's see, yup, still poor people out my window.

Drugs-um, yes, we still seem to have a steady supply of users and dealers

Crime- why come to think of it, my neighbors house was robbed last week.

Terrorism- Daily bombings across the world, and no end in site.

So yes, let's fund yet another 'war' on something we cannot control. It'll be fun.

A War only would make the oil prices higher and also produce hunger, misery, hate and more troubles.

  • People complain about high petroleum prices - but don't cut down on their car use.

Because of this Public transport gets no better, maybe gets worse, so cars are needed to be used more.

    Pollution gets worse.

    Quit moaning and walk!

No. We should come up with alternate energy sources and find ways to do with out oil.
