Will the NBA Western conference champion be a heavy favorite over the Eastern conference champion?

No because the two teams in the Eastern Conference Finals had the best two records in the regular season. Both teams going into the finals will also have just gone through a tough series.

I agree a hundred%- Pistons and Spurs. in fact, till some significant differences ensue to the rosters of those communities, i could say those 2 are the reincarnation of the Celtics/Lakers of the 80's.

I think the East might have an advantage because they have homecourt and homecourt is very important. Detroit and Boston have deep benches and veteran players. I think Detroit has a slight edge, behind the Spurs of course, when it comes to experience over LA and BOS.

But the determination and drive from both sides will determine the final score.
