Two commuter train accident stories in one day? Is yahoo trying to stop the shift to sustainable transport?

Haha, ok. So that's a bit of a conspiracy theory. But do you find it interesting that two cases in one day of commuter train accidents are considered to be national news, while the thousands of automobile accidents go unreported and unnoticed. Do you think that news coverage like this contributes to the national reluctance to utilize mass transit?

Update:

I believe that I laughed at the notion that it was a plotted conspiracy, and repositioned the question as a general query about the role the media unwittingly plays in our national attitudes about transit options.

Even though these stories showed up in the news, most people still know that trains like this are very safe. This is why we need to build strong systems of public transportation. Don't worry friend, high costs are forcing a public awareness, and out of this will come a cry from the masses to their leaders to provide them with community systems to make their lives better.

    The change is already happening!

Hmm...that is interesting. I mean, I don't think that Yahoo is purposefully trying to stop mass transit, but it is interesting. There are many more car accidents than train accidents, yet these get reported. It is weird that people will think of the train accidents when they get in a train (or choose not to), but most people don't think of the fact that they are putting their life in probably more danger when they get into their car everyday.

People who live around most cities and have to plan their trip to and from work by car will be very much aware of the number of car accidents that mess up their daily commute.

Only people who get to work without using the busy roadway would tune out those traffic snarling events that occur every day.

It's a conspiracy joe. Yahoo is trying to discredit mass transport and scaring everyone to not trust and ride trains any more.

Clearly Yahoo is working with Exxon to keep oil prices high just for the profits.

What else could be the reason?

no doubt someone will blame all these train wrecks on global warming, just like they do with earthquakes & volcanos.
