Sharing utilities expenses?

Hi there...

I live in an 2/2 apartment and I'm renting a room with bathroom, I live with my friend we share the same room, so my question is: to the roommate that is coming soon should I ask for half of the utilities expenses (because two rooms) or should I divide the expenses into three parties????

    split in 3 ways, because if you are home when your roommate isn't, you are still using utilities.

    I would ask for a 3rd they shouldnt be responsible for your friends electric.
