How would you life change if gas got to $10 per gallon?
That would be $100+ for most people to fill up a car tank, more than likely $120+ for alot of people with SUVs. Would this confine you to only using your car to go to work?

I have already started riding my bike and I invested in a bike trailer to travel with my son... So it would only affect me on rainy days... but if that were the case... I'd probably end up on welfare... wait you can't use "gas expenses" or even vehicles as money spent per month... hmm...

I would still use the car to get where we need to go, unless it was within a reasonable walking distance. I would also make sure to consolidate the things I need to do, so I wouldn't have to make numerous trips across town.
If gas gets too much higher, which it looks like it will.. it'll just mean making some changes, but it'll be alright.

I'd only use mine to drive into the city, to buy groceries, see the Dr and stuff. I'd would also plan ahead, and buy groceries on the same day as my Drs appt. Buy them all at one store, too. No more driving to 2 or 3 stores to get the best prices. Walk the mile into town to get my mail, and the mile and a half to church.
Maybe I'd get a bike for in town stuff.

China is a little past a "developing nation". And the people in the US are still paying for gas. It is just more expensive.
