Gas oven won't start?

Pilot comes on but the gas flame will not extend down the burner. What now?

    IF IT IS FAIRLY NEW THAN IT HAS A "HOT SURFACE IGNITOR" THAT WOULD NORMALLY GLOW WHEN YOU TURN THE OVEN ON. THIS PART LETS THE GAS BEGIN TO FLOW UPON APPROVAL. CHECK YOUR PAPERWORK OR CALL A SERVICEPERSON. I WOULD NOT LIGHT WITH ANYTHING UNTIL YOU DETERMINE WHAT KIND OF IGNITION YOU HAVE

    my parents oven did that, you can either use a lit rolled up news paper for the time being or get down in there and clean stuff out
