There are no quick fixes. If anyone tells you that there is, they are lying to you. In order to do credit repair correctly and legally, it will take anywhere from six months to a year, usually closer to the year mark.

If you are looking to get rid of legitimate debt so that you don't have to pay it back, you won't find a legitimate company to help you do that unless it is with credit cards. Even then it is a costly endeavor and for a mere 5500 in debt not worth the 2500 it would take to enter the program.

Find your local Consumer credit counselor and set up a meeting. Make sure they are accredited with NFCC at nfcc.org, to be sure the company is much less likely to take advantage of you by pushing you into a debt management program (DMP) even if it isn't what you want. A credit counselor will help you budget and pay off your debts quick. You can also take classes that can be noted on your credit report, which can help increase your credit score.

If you don't want to go through counseling, start by putting any extra money you have towards your smallest debt, if you have multiple debt accounts. Otherwise, just put as much money as possible into each payment, noting that the extra money should be used towards the principal.

    Hope this helps!

Unfortunately for you, repairing or improving credit takes time. You need to pay off your debt. Once you do that, your score will automatically increase.
