How should I get funding for my cyclotron project?

I have been working on an ambitious science project with two friends for about a year and a half now: we are planning to build a small cyclotron to accelerate particles and do some basic experiments. So far we have written requests for funding to a ton of companies as well as created this website:

Does anyone have any ideas on how to help get our project funded?

Please check your e-mail from your web-site. Thanks.

EDIT: Peter, it was great to speak with you. I looked over your specs and they are great...nice job. You are all going to make great scientists! I am excited for you and look forward to seeing some data from your machine and to talking with the three of you next week.

I hope others on Yahoo!Answers will "answer the call" to help you build this cyclotron.

I doubt the DoE (E for energy) is going to fund you. NSF might. I think you're on the right track trying to get companies to do it. They sponsor science-fair type projects all the time.

I checked out your website--pretty neat.
