Thumb works fine, external is overkill. Use external if you have a LOT of files that won't fit on a thumb drive.

This would purely depend on the quantity of data you have on the Uni servers. You can get affordable thumb drives up to around 16 GB these days and bigger if you want to spend the cash. Alternatively, a 2.5" or 3.5" HDD isn't that much and may well prove itself also handy for backing up your files at home as well, bring the cost for this down (relatively) as it has multiple uses.

Another option, if there's only a small amount of data and you have Internet access, is something like Windows Live SkyDrive, Xdrive or Adrive or another of the online storage solutions.

How much do you have? If it wont fit on a flsh drive then a hard drive is your option. Can get a protable laptop hard drive so you dont need an external power supply.

    I got a 250gb one for $170au
