Help! Need stretched canvases without so many defects!?
I just started doing acrylic paintings to sell, but am disabled and cannot drive, so my family will often pick up canvases for me after I find a brand on the internet that I feel will work. In the past I have had purchased ones for $6-$9 a piece. (too long ago to remember what kind) I understand these arent really expensive, but the corners were nice and seamless and I had no problems with warped edges, dents along the edges, and badly constracted corners. Now even though I thought I found ones with nice seamless corners again, every single one has damage to them. Can anyone tell me any brands they pruchase that are overall a well constracted (in my price range) and without the warping, and dings and dents to the edges. I use the studio edge about 3/4 depth so they are ready to hang without the need for framing. Having the clean seamless corners are a must for me. Any information would be greatly appreciated. (I have to order online)Thank You.

Canvas Cubed, http://www.canvascubed.com/, has well constructed hand-made canvases. They are deeper than what you mentioned about, but I thought it wouldn't hurt to provide you the link.

The very best is Frederick's canvas, but it's expensive. A good general rule is buy the best you can afford - and try to buy products made in USA, Canada or Europe. We sell (in Canada) Apollon and they are affordable, consistent and well-made.

Refuse any products imported from Asia - no offense intended, but those canvas products are made fast & cheap, and many of my peers have had problems with paint adherence, twisted and cracked frames, and inferior canvas weight (5oz and 7oz is not heavy enough for a mid-size to large canvas). They are inconsistent in the products used - one batch can differ greatly from the next.
Have fun painting!

Hi Macy,
I live in Portugal, so I don't send for canvas from abroad.
But i do buy art materials from USA, namely due to the weak dollar.
Now, I usually buy from ASW Express and recently also from Dick Blick.
Both of them have a good customers service, especially Dick Blick. I'm sure that they'll help you with your choice.
The prices are also among the best.
Are you aware of the Wetcanvas forums ?
There's one about acrylics there.
Here's a page from my website where you can find some interesting resources :
