psychologist, psychiatrist, or therapist?

I'm starting to lose it. I have too much stress and anxiety right now that I'm starting to lose it and that I can't hold it in anymore. I don't want to talk to my parents or friends about it but a professional adult. It's about my future, college, girlfriend, friends, work, homework, everything. Everythign about my life right now is not good. So which is the right one for me?

This question is a hard one to answer because you have stated that you only want to talk to professionals. So my instant response is "what are you asking us for?" .

If you ask a professional, you are going to get a clinical answer, and I suggest that is not what you need right now.

Why not talk over these concerns with a friend. If you don't want to talk to your parents or teachers, either of which I am sure would be a good bet,.Although sometimes parents can be too wrapped up in their every day family problems to be of much help. Do you have a favourite uncle or aunt that you can talk these things through with. I sometimes talked with one of our neighbours when I was in my teens. What I am saying to you is find someone that you feel comfortable with and keep the conversation light and I am sure you will get the answers to most of the things that are worrying you at the moment. When we are young, the future always seems a little hard to figure, and girl friends, well when you get that right you will have solved the biggest mystery of the universe. As far as your home work is concerned, if you are getting down to it and giving it your best shot, then that is all anyone can ask of you. College, well if that is in the cards, you will, like many millions before you, go and have the time of your life. You mentioned your job, I suspect that is just a pocket money job and you will go on to greater things.

Most of us when we are young and have any feelings at all, have great worries about our future, that is just because some of us are a little more the thinking type and we think about things. In doing so we take on the weight of the world, our share ,plus the non thinkers, thats what makes it so heavy. If you can find a "listener" just run your thought past them say one item at a time and I am sure it will give you a bit of insight. Summer is nearly here and you will be able to get out more and things will look a little rosier.

Therapist is my recommendation, they are good when you need someone to rly talk to. psychiatrist generally presribe meds. Psychologist is more on the therapist side as well, but i would rly recommend a good therapist, make sure you find a descent one though, that can actually help you with the problems you are going through. Good luck.
