Would you ask more questions if Answers worked like this....???

If you got more points back for asking a better question, that is getting more answers. For instance, if you got 34 answers to your question instead of only getting 12 answers. And you got points back from the question because more people answered, in addition to the 3 you get when you pick a Best Answer. So you got 1 point for each 10 people who answered your question. (Maybe if you didn't get 10 the 8 saved up until you got to 10, then you gained a point or maybe you just missed out. Whatever.)

So the person who got 12 answers back to his question would get 1 point back. And the person who got 34 answers would get 3 more points back in their account balance.

Would you ask more questions if Answers worked like that???

um not really; as theres questions that you like want to know that hardly get any answers but theres questions that you know people will answer to, like the basic ones that affect everyone, eg. what colour are your eyes, where do you live, what time is it where you are

I might ask more questions, but I'm not sure the quality of question would improve thereby. I only ask when there's something specific on my mind. The plan you suggest seems to feed into the "poles & surveys" mentality of quantity over quality.

I think this would discourage people from asking in specific information-type categories like chemistry. Most of those questions are "get it right and move on" types. That is, if the first person to answer has an adequate, even a complete and comprehensible one, then what's the point to having a couple of dozen answers that all say the same thing?

It really is time to get over considering points that important. They are a tool to indicate what behavior is wanted, but mostly what we are concerned with here is building a data base of useful information.

i gotta tell ya pal, that plan sounds good= i had to read it a couple of times to do the math, but either way it does add up to points==When i first started this not long ago i would have typed anything for points, but now with my megar total on level 2, i just do it to perhaps help with a question, add a little humor so as not to sound dorkey to the max= and it makes me feel good kicken back ideas to people all over the world, and maybe even beyond== now i have to work on better questions=== my new brainstorm idea this week is dehidrated ice== a real space saver.

    I would agree...

    0-10 answers: 1 point

    11-20 answers: 2 points

For every 25, an extra point...

    Yeh, that could work!

But Yahoo has not listened for so long....

no i dont think so. I answer alot more then i ask. I dont really care that much about the points. I mean its not like we get something if we get so many points. The points a worthless.
