Do NOT pierce it with a sewing needle.
The needle needs to be hollow - Buy a professional hollow piercing needle from Ebay, and make sure the width is the same size as the lip ring you plan on using.
There aren't really any veins or anything you need to worry about in your lip, but be careful.
I repeat, do NOT use an ordinary needle - it HAS to be hollow. It'll **** up your lip otherwise, and the needle won't be wide enough, and so you'll be in pain. Trust me.
And make sure the needle is steralised! You don't really need to numb your lip or anything, because it doesn't hurt. The bit that hurts is when the needle rips through the other side of your lip.
Good luck.
Source(s): I pierced my own lip with a professional hollow needle. Turned out perfect. My sister tried piercing hers with an ordinary needle a few days before I did mine. Hers turned out fucked up, mine turned out perfect. But I do advise you go to a professional if you don't know what your doing. - 1 decade ago
No, she should be ok but MAKE SURE she uses a STERILISED needle and it's advisable to hold ice on it before to numb it out.
However there is of course no alternative to a professional.
