Why are people so determined to avoid learning about how their internal organs function tobe politicalycorrect

I am refering to the frog question. The frog had it's brain destroyed before it was disected. It was BRAIN DEAD. I am sick of explaining BASIC biology to people who decided not to learn it in school. Why does the most intelligent creature on the earth work so hard to stay stupid?

I agree with you (although I wonder if it's working hard to stay stupid, or if that's just the natural path of least resistance.)

In some fairness, however, there's considerable research, even from veterinary colleges, indicating that "virtual" dissections can be as effective or more so in educating students on basic anatomy, etc. At advanced levels, I believe there is real value in doing the dissections yourself. In more introductory courses, it may be that some of the students are so distracted by the "yuck" factor that they don't in fact learn much. Too bad, as what could be more fascinating than the anatomy and physiology of how life really works?

Some people have trouble with the concept of looking at a dead animal's innards. When I taught human anatomy there was usually one person each year who backed away from the demonstration cadaver and sat down. The problem is probably worse for younger children. It is easy to rationalize squeamishness by calling dissection cruel.
