I need to reinstall Windows on a computer but don't have the disc. How do I get a copy?
It is a Compaq desktop. It has a Windows license but the hard drive quit working. It didn't come with a Windows disc. When I replace the hard drive, how do I get Windows installed legally?

contact Compaq they will have a DVD or cdrom disc available to you. You also can use a re installation disk from just about anyone else. All of them will ask for that license number on the back. depending on the price Compaq wants to charge you check eBay, for a disc they are pretty standard.
Note if your computer is several years old Compaq doesn't have those discs. they put a restore section in your fried hard drive. there are companies that will sell you a restore disk, with a disclaimer they are not selling you the actual licensed copy. hope this helps
ps. 270242632937 is for an upgrade disc on ebay. it will do what you want.

You should of got a Restore CD or a hidden partition on the Main Hard drive, if your missing any of these you can either contact HP who will give you the details of where you can get hold of a copy of the restore cd's or you could even try Ebay as someone should have them listed on there.
All you need is the Model Number or Serial of the computer for HP / Ebay and you'll find them.

You can torrent or download the files to reinstall the OS as long as you have the Serial or CD Key. This should still be legal because you have the serial code/license.
