Ride your bike around town. Buy organic food. Don't buy bottled water. Install energy efficient light bulbs and ONLY replace when the other ones are burnt out. Turn your air conditioning off when you're not home. Make sure lights are off at all times unless you really need them. Keep your a/c two degrees hotter than you usually would and used a fan if it it's too hot. Bring canvas bags to the grocery store and request that your groceries are bagged in those instead of wasting plastic/paper bags. Buy non-toxic cleaners ( there's a brand called METHOD which has good products). Take quicker showers. Go outside and play rather than watch tv or be on the comp. Tunr your cell phone off when you can. Buy outlet timers to plug your electronics in that don't allow a current when you don't need the electronics ( electronics on stand-by consumes a surprising amount of energy). Buy and energy meter so you can be conscious of how much electricity your home is using. Lots more but I've talked your head off haha.

Summer is a great time to start walking and biking more. Almost anything you do you live more sustainably will end up saving you money.
Buy food in bulk from a local food co op
Plant a garden
eat more veggies and less meat
go to local festivals and carnivals for fun stuff

Going green and reducing costs generally don't follow one another.
There's plenty of real things one can do to reduce fuel and energy costs. Just use less. Insulate your home, drive less, turn off things when not in use, and so on. It's fairly basic, and it does add up. Move to things like wind power. But that's expensive to get into.
Going green often costs more. Often things done to "save" the planet cause more harm than good, like recycling in most cases.
Earth doesn't need help, it's doing fine. Humanity is a different story.
