I know it sounds crazy, but has anyone ever heard of a bar of soap under the sheets to help with leg cramps?

Yes. About two years ago I started waking during the night with a strange sensation in my legs as if I needed to stretch, or get up and walk around, or flex my legs. It was VERY compelling. Felt almost like an itch that I just couldn't scratch. These symptoms continued every night for probably a month or two. (Can't remember how long now) Then I read about this in a newspaper column called "Ask Doctor Gott" in which he recommended this before trying prescription medications for RLS. I tried it and within TWO NIGHTS my symptoms began to improve until they dissapeared completely within about a week. I was so relieved that I was afraid to stop sleeping with the bar of soap out of fear that the symptoms would return and not go away again if I started using the soap again. I slept with the bar of soap for probably 3 months until I finally decided to try sleeping without it. The symptoms did not return and I have slept fine ever since.

Yes! It does sound crazy but I've read it as several people I know have also. It says to put a bar of Ivory at the foot of the bed under the sheet. I personally find medication for RLS to work the best.

I haven't heard about the bar of soap remedy, but when I was pregnant and having leg cramps, my doctor thought I might need more calcium. I started taking more dairy products, and the leg cramps didn't come back.

No, I actually have in no way heard of that. My mom used to have leg cramps, and the final practitioner instructed her that it become many times led to by utilizing a lack of calcium interior the blood and he instructed her to take a calcium suppliment. He suggested taking calcium citrate instead of calcium carbonate, with the aid of the undeniable fact that is assimilated into the bloodstream extra right now. And he suggested she ought to chew the pills, for swifter action. I actually have many times heard of ingesting a pitcher of milk or eating somewhat of cheese earlier bedtime, yet that turned right into a lengthy time period in the past, earlier the availability of calcium suppliments. i must admit, in spite of the actuality that, that i tried it once, when I had leg cramps, and they went away. possibly milk DOES help some!

NO I have not heard of the soap trick. To stop the leg cramps you need to have more fluid in your system. Cramps come from your body being a little bit de-hydrated. Also you need more potassium; eat bananas because that is loaded with potassium. Gatorade is good, too, because it hydrates your body and it has potassium in it.

Ive read alot of old almanacs, and never heard of this. It depends on the type of soap. Generally this is caused by a lack of potassium.
