Large ovarian cysts can be painful when they are pressing up against other structures inside. They are also very painful when they rupture. Really large ones could make you look like you are pregnant...distended belly. They could also cause some nausea and make you feel like you have to pee a lot if they are pressing on your bladder. So some of the traditional pregnancy symptoms could be the same for an ovarian cyst.

Before I found out I had a large one, I too thought that I was having an appendicitis. I nearly blacked out from the pain. I saw stars and was buckled over in pain. Then when they did the ultrasound, they saw it on my left ovary. (my pain was on the right) It was pushing my uterus and right ovary over causing the pain on the right lower side. Not a fun thing to go through.

Not to my knowledge.

I had an ovarian cyst in middle school-- I remember it being very painful, they thought I had appendicitis until they got in there and saw the cyst on my ovary.

I am going through the exact same thing. My doctor found a small cyst on one of my ovaries a few months ago. My pain isn't excruciating but I am having wierd cramping (unlike period cramping) and have to pee a lot. I don't know if the cyst has anything to do with it or not. If you find out an answer please let me know.

I don't think so. My best friend had several, and they were all VERY painful. She was hardly conscious, she was in so much pain.
