can someone please explain to me a logical explaination on how noah's ark was able to fit millions of different species, times by two of course, in his 135 metre long, 22.5 metre wide ark?

oh and how did the food chain work out?

cages, restraints etc.?

I can explain it, it did not happen.

    Simple as that.

I hope for the sake of man-kind that people will realize that this is so impossible.

Aren’t you getting a little tired of factious answers by small-minded, pubescent, cynics when you ask a serious question? Or are you asking serious questions?

Actually it did happen, the flood, that is. Every ancient tribal society has a story about a Great Flood that came down through their oral history. It seems to be the opinion of most scientists that this occurred between 30,000 and 10,000 years ago. Many equate it with the rapidly rising waters as the ice caps melted in the last Ice Age (Was Noah really Al Gore? Curious.). In fact there’s an ancient settlement at the bottom of the Black Sea that was engulfed in a sudden deluge, probably when the Mediterranean broke through the Bosporus Straights.

The story of Noah was an adaptation from the Epoch of Gilgamesh. It was an oral history handed down among the Semitic and Sumerian people and took place along the Euphrates River in about 10,500 BC about the time Jericho was established.

The purpose of the story is not about the ark or even Noah; it’s about God’s fidelity with his creation. At the end of the story he creates the rainbow as his covenant to all mankind that He will never seek to destroy humanity again. The Covenant of Noah covers all mankind (including Hindus and Buddhists, et. al.) while Jews and Muslims come under the Covenant of Abraham, and Christians are under the Covenant of Jesus.

That’s just in case you did want a serious answer.

JAYCY You have to stop thinking in human terms and think in terms of God. With God nothing is impossible. God was in the Ark with Noah and the animals and the logistical problems that seem to bother you were mere childs play for our omnipotent God. If you are rejecting the truth of God and the sacrifice of Jesus Christ because you have trouble with with the Biblical account of Noah's Ark, I suggest you do a little more research. It is possible and even probable that the Ark was much bigger than 135 m. The popular assumption of an 18" cubit ( the normal length of a man's forearm and hand) made for a 500 foot long or 152 meter Ark. The Bible and Archeology show that many humans were probably indeed much larger in Noah's day which would make their cubit larger still. So if a Noah or men in Noah's day were say as tall as an average basketball player 6'-10" or so and had a 2 foot long cubit that would make for a ship 600 feet long or 183 meters. Now even if it were only 500 feet long , that is a good sized ship. As a former merchant mariner

( with 32 years going to sea) I can tell you that a 500 foot long ship can carry a lot of cargo. I served in freighters 500-600 feet long that carried 14,000 to 15,000 long tons ( 2240 ponuds per ton). Now thats a steel ship loaded also with fuel, food, crew and water . A wooden ship that size is much more bouyant and could carry even more weight. So it is and was logistically possible even without God's help. God Bless .... Captain Arlo

Most people do not believe in the Biblical story of Noah because of a basic problem: How could a few people gather ALL the animals, feed and care for them on board a ship for months? The answer comes from...who controlled the Earth thousands of years ago? The angels (the humans with the technology) built the Arks, collected the animals and caused the rains. The chosen animals were probably the best examples of their specie and worthy of being saved. It is scientifically possible to place a life form in suspended animation reduced down to its DNA. This was the cargo within the Arks. The samples of DNA would be revived, later, after the waters receded. Nowhere in the Bible does it mention that Noah went out and gathered each animal. It only says Noah brought them into the Ark. If the 'life cannisters' were all assembled for the Noahs by the gods and the simple people merely carried them in and secured them in place, then this does explain the Noah story.

First of all you have your numbers messed up as far as the number of animals on the ark....Noah took two of the 'air breathing' animals and he took two of every 'kind' which has been show to be about the same as the 'family' level at least for mammals and birds then there were only about 2000 animals which would have been NO problem at all!! Read the book Noah's Ark a Feasibility Study by John Woodmorappe if you REALLY want to get to the bottom of your question with a logical and SCIENTIFIC answer!

It seems most improbable that Noah built the ark and repopulated the earth following a great flood. Even Jesus says in the Bible...(I am, of course paraphrasing)..."Hey, I speak in parables...it's a lesson...don't take it literally...use the lesson to grow spiritually but don't get bogged down in the details or you are missing the whole exercise, you idiots!"

I always enjoy "debating" those who believe in literal interpretations of the Bible.

They have a really hard job...every bit of observation MUST be pounded into their narrow view. But they have several "tools" at their disposal that the scientific method does not...

    1) If backed into a corner from which there is no logical escape, they can play the "God can do anything" card and just like Bugs Bunny...paint a trap door into the floor and escape your logical attack of their belief.

    2) If you quote from their source and use it against them, then they play the "Oh, you're not reading it right...or the original language was mis-traslated card thus shutting you down with no way to counter argue because we don't have an ancient Bible right there to translate.

The strength of the scientific method is its peer riview system and its flexibility to adapt to new observations. Science can adapt to new findings, the literal Biblical interpretations are fixed and if new data disagrees with their belief then the new data are wrong.

I have found that no matter what you "come up with", the Creationists will ALWAYS have an answer, and if they don't...they can shout "Blasphemy!!" and run away making the sign of the cross as they retreat.

Most of those species are small as in birds and bugs. They do not take up that much room as you think.

A pair of the large animals and medium size animals were male and female. You only need a pair from a species you do not need each pair for each kind in each species.

All the different types of dogs comes from one pair of dogs.

GOD provided the animals and Noah had food for those animals. They were in a hibernation state where they did not the regular amount of food that was needed. Meat eaters did not attack other animals.

The story of Noah's Ark is likely borrowed from the Epic of Gilgamesh and other ancient pagan sources.

In the Epic of Gilgamesh it is the seed of all kinds of living things, not the actual animals.

For more information use google scholar to look up the Utnapishtim’s flood, as told in the 11th tablet.

sup jacey, the dimentions of the ark are the same as a modern day oil tanker

the Bible doesnt give info about restraints or feeding

but Biblically people went for forty days without food, but I think there was food available

maybe some animals got to try something different

  • 1 decade ago

even better how did he get the Animals from other continents and put them back on the right ones

yep a wood boat the size of an oil tanker= not physically possibly wood can not support that kind of weight

how come no one has made a wood boat bigger that a pirate ship = because it's not possible

Source(s): It was magic,,,,,and if you believe in magic and I hope you do,you'll always have a friend waring big red shoes

First of all, Noah's ark did not fit species. It fit KINDS.

Two dogs, not two labadors and two poodles.

There were no insects and fish, either. FIsh could swim, and insects breathe out of their skin.
