How much should a 2 month old girl eat?

My daughter was born at 8 lbs 10 oz. and last week she started eating 6-8 oz. every 3 hours. Is this too much or normal? My grandmother suggested cereal in her bottle, but I'm not sure if I should give her any yet.

i think my daughter ate 6 to 8oz every 3 hours at that age. i remember going through an entire big can of formula in less than a week. my son will only eat 3-4oz of formula at a time but he's mostly breastfed so i don't know. both of them were 8lbs 11oz though, close to yours. i would not put cereal in her bottle, because most doctors don't recommend that that young. if you are worried that she's eating too much, check with her doctor, but i wouldn't worry.

my daughter was 8 lbs 8 oz when she was born lol and she will be 5 months june 15, and eats 5 ounces every 2-3 hours...i thought this was less than normal and i asked her pediatrician last week and she said thats about right...so i wouldnt be worried...but i would hold off on giving the cereal only b/c i know with my daughter, it made her have diarrhea...we gave it to her for a few days when she was constipated but that was it...but my grandmother and mother said the same thing..."i was feeding you rice cereal at 3 weeks old..." blah blah blah lol grandma's are just old school... good luck!

okay...my baby will be 5 months this week. She weighed 9lbs 7oz. at birth. at 1 month and on she was eating 5- 6oz bottles a day. it was every 3-4 hours. she consistently did this until about 4 months when she started wanting more and we started cereal in a bowl w/ a spoon. NEVER put cereal in a bottle. People sometimes say to do it... but the Doctor never recommends it.

Your baby is doing perfect... she will tell you when she is hungry/full. The cereal is just a "filler" to help them last longer between meals and sleep better. at this young age, you will want her to have the nutrition from the formula (or even breastmilk) Good Luck. love them while they are this tiny... mine is growing way to fast. she is 20 lbs now!! :)

At two months my child was only able to take 3 ounces every 3 hours. Now she is nearly 7 months and she cannot handle more than 5 ounces of milk. Though she does have baby food and rice cereal. But that was what she could handle at that time, and now she is the size of a 1 year old. She recently finished her six months shots last week and the pediatrician is completely happy where she is at, she is active, no problems. Good luck with your child and congratulations.

My son's doctor said that the best way to tell how much a baby should be eating is to multiply their weight by 2 1/2. For example, if the baby weighs 10 pounds they should eat 25 oz. A baby knows when they are hungry and they dont eat when theyre not. I wouldnt put your baby on cereal, not until she's atleast 4-5 months old. Her digestive system isnt ready for it yet.

Well my baby's almost 3 months and she takes about 5 ounces every 3-4 hours, and the doctor said that was normal. Then I feed her 6 ounces at like 10 and she's out until 6 or 7 the next morning. If you talk to your doctor they will tell you the recommended amount.

According to my pediatrician: At 2 months, 6 feedings per 24 hours about 4-6 ounces per feeding is average.

It is too early for cereal in my opinion. I usually wait till about 4 months depending on the baby.

I think that sounds about right. My daughter is nine weeks and she eats about 5 oz every 3 hours. It varies, sometimes she eats more, sometimes less. I wouldn't start her on cereal just yet....talk to her doctor first...her digestive system might not yet be mature enough to handle it. If she seems content and is growing, I would say all is well :)

Its a little too much for her age. I wouldn't let her eat no more then 8oz in one sitting every 3-4 hours but try to hold off closer to 4 hours. I wouldn't start to put any cereal in her bottle till shes at least a month or two older. It might be too rich for her age right now.
