what is the best reason to give to your boss for taking a day off for another job interview?

You shouldn't have to give a reason if you schedule it in advance. I need such and such day off, I have an appointment should be enough. If they need to know because it would afect the type of leave that gets charged then maybe you can elaborate to a 'personal day' but I cannot imagine that you have to tell them anything. The other thing to remember though is if the prospective employer calls your current employer for a reference, they can only provide basic employment information but they might be able to figure out what you might have been up to. This is a good reason to say personal day or appointment without eluding to the interview. It is just not a good idea to lie and get caught in it or in a bad light later because you did. Best of Luck to you!

Boss I need the day off. You don't have to give a reason. But if he/she persists, tell them it's personal.
Never give anything that can be checked out...like phony Doctor or dentist appointments.

◘The truth. If you went to look for another job is because this one is not what you want. Explain the reason; the boss might help you get what you want if you are a good employee.

Is it required once you're taking a private day to offer the clarification and your itinerary? basically say you have some issues to try this would possibly not be able to be performed on the different time. it is your corporation, no longer theirs. Use the all-inclusive word "own corporation to take care of."

Take it as a vacation day, personal day, paid time off, or non-paid time off. Usually you don't need a reason. The time just needs to be scheduled in. I wouldn't lie and call in sick or that nonsense. It's unethical and makes you a liar.
