how to close my account?

hi there everyone!!
i had opened a salary account when i was working with a company. now i had no clue about the terms and conditions about that particular bank conditions...
and i used that account for a while, when i had left that company i had to open an another account (salary account). i had little deposit in that account , after one year they started to send me the bills for non maintenance of account, which i am not aware of. i had lost that little deposit and also i had to pay they Rs.5000 now at present scenario. please help me how to close that account with out paying anything. i have theirs debit card and cheque book. help me.  ravi.achary

my friend - you have already lost 5000 which you should not have paid at all. Closing salary account is company's responsibility and they should inform the bank.

Now, simply you send an email to the bank, stating that you want to close this with immediate effect. Also send a copy of this email duly signed to the banks address by registered post. Alos cancel all unused cheques and returned to them. Regarding credit card/Debit card, you can destroy it and inform them to cancel it.

Also write in the email that henceforth you will not be liable for this account and you have already left the company.

After that the bank is bound to close it.

the email address you can get from the website of that bank or you can send it to customer care email id

it shouldn't be hard to close an account - you may need to do it in writing.  they may forgive some of the fees - but probably not all.  depends on if you have another account with them.  call their customer service department, or visit their website to get the needed info on account closing.
