My sister had a panic attack or something and could not speak?
She was sobbing uncontrollably and could not speak. She could just kind of murmor, but no one could understand her. She had no problem understanding us though. So, someone handed her a pen and paper and she started to tell us what was on her mind. Eventually, after a couple hours, she began to feel better and could talk again. Have you ever heard of this before? She had been under a lot of stress about finances because her husband was out of work for 18 months; but he just got a job about 3 weeks ago and is doing well. What could have caused this? How should it be treated?

My sister had the exact thing. Its a mini-stroke. Sorry to have to say it.
You must have her see a doctor, so medication can be given again. The fact is if she doesnt see a doctor soon, the mini-stroke could turn into something much more serious.
Good luck
God Bless

She had an anxiety attack. It happens when a person is having long term stress. Sometimes it does get to the point where a person has trouble doing things such as breathing and speaking. The best treatment would be a stress managment session or even a support group with people who are in similar situations. However if everything continues to go well this will not occur. Just make sure to lend a helping hand whenever you can.
Best of luck to your sister and her family.

I've dealt with panic attacks for years and this isn't really a symptom of one. I've never heard of anyone not being able to speak unless it was a spiritual matter. Not meaning to bring religion into a non-religious forum, but she could have become oppressed by something demonic. If she is found to be physically well, try having her talk to a Christian counselor. I'm sure they can help her sort out what really is going on.

This is not a panic attack, but an acute anxiety attack.
I think you sister should be referred for anxiety management so that she can learn ways of reducing the build up of tension that can lead to these happening. It might not happen again, now that things are on the up.

Its a delayed reaction to stress and shock as a result of everything that has gone one.
Its happened to me a few times, not been able to stop crying when I get going and been so stressed out I have had to go home and rest and relax.
Not surprised she has been like that its the body's reaction to stress if she didn't do that she would explode - its a good thing that its coming out
Last year when I left London with a whole heap of **** thats still going on I could not stop crying for a week - I was ill with stress - it taken me to April of this year to start to get back on track - and with me it took me in the form of overeating hence I put on a bit of weight roughly 13k only to lose 6kg recently since April of this year - people are very good to judge.
I think may be she could benefit with therapy good ones cost though as I know to my cost get someone who is professionally accredited

Please take her to see psychiatrist or medical doctor. Panic attacks and anxiety are real and very debilitating. I feel sorry for her and do not want to see her suffer. They can come at anytime. There are medications she can take if only temporary. So please take her to see not a therapist or psychologist, but a psychiatrist of medical doctor who can prescribe medicine. They may then recommend seeing someone else after that.

I would have her checked by a doctor to make sure something serious did not occur.
