My puppy has worms. Her vet appt. is Saturday, is that too long? Is she going to die?

Update:

I have an 8 year old cat. Will she give them to him?

Shouldn't be, if she's acting normally and not showing any signs. Some worms can be pretty serious in large numbers, but if she had that sort she'd be showing obvious issues (diarrhea, perhaps with blood, not eating, depressed, lethargic, etc).

She should be fine. If she starts acting out of sorts or showing some of the above signs, you might give the vet a call and ask them if you can get an appointment sooner, but if she's acting like her normal, healthy, self Saturday is not too long to wait.

EDIT: As for the cat addendum. Possibly, but unlikely. Cats and dogs don't often share parasites. They have worms that are fairly similar, but that prefer one species over the other.

Your puppy wont die! Most puppies have worms

when you go to the vet make sure you take a stool sample with you so they can see what kind of parasites your doggy has and give you some dewormer

Now the dewormer may not be a one time thing the vet may give you your first dose and they you may have to repeat the treatment at home in about 2 weeks for the next four weeks or something similar to that!

She won't die, I think he should have squeezed you in mine would, make sure you or anyone that picks up her poop washes their hand worms can be contagious, and if she goes in the garden, A good place to keep her 'till you get the med.,, no sense in giving it to other dogs, unless you clean up after her like your supposed, go to a garden store and get some lime(its like a white powder) don't know if I spelled it right the store will know, sprinkle some when you pick up her poop, sprinkle it over the garden, non toxic(but don't just let her eat it, thats NOT good, i will take care of any worms she's left on the ground so she won't get re infected and it is great for the soil and grass

She will be fine, if you can bring the appointment forward, so much the better, but not because it is harmful at this stage, just uncomfortable. But she will be fine. Some owners don 't know their dogs have worms for ages and they survive, so try not to worry, it is also really easy to sort out with a tablet. Best to worm her regularly in future though, saves vet fees.

Some puppies can die if the infestation is very serious and in large numbers. I would talk with the vet that you are going to for the best advice and try to move up the appointment. Get her in as soon as possible!

Ohh dont worry, most puppies get worms from their mothers. So they had them since they were a born... as long as they dont look sick, and aren't vomating, your puppy should be fine.

I worked at a German Shepherd Kennels, where they train my local police station's k-9 unit dogs, and I remember the puppies would sometimes get worms... just make sure when they poop :P to clean it up right away, soo they don't eat it pupppiess ehhh ♥

my puppy had the same thing happen...this is gonna sound gross but if there is a lot of blood in the puppy's poo or if he is pooping straight blood take him to an emergency vet right away...otherwise just get him in asap....my vet let me know if there is EVER blood in their poo or if they are throwing up blood to get them to the vet as soon as you can because untreated worms can kill young puppies.

When I first got my puppy from the original owners she began pooping worms. It scared me but my friend told me they have over the counter meds for dogs at Walmart, (they surprisingly have alot of of dog care supplies) I gave them to her & before I new it they were gone. But if you buy the meds over the counter make sure you read the entire bottle before giving it to your dog. Good luck!!!

she won't die. saturday is a little bit aways, but she will be fine. if you can, change the appointment to tomorrow or friday so she can get the meds sooner.
