can u activate magic cards on your first turn?

my brother went first in the duel and on his very first turn he fused to summon elemental flame wingman. I told him u couldnt activate a magic card on the first persons turn because the othe player has no chance to stop it but he said no. can u do this. Also, when u have 5 magic and trap cards in your zone and one is active, can u remove from play to set another magic or trap card?

Ok I will divide this up (paragraph form) so you can get a better detailed notification.

Magic Card (1st Turn Activation): You may do this but it must meet the requirements needed to be able to. Polymerization met the requirements (Flame Wingman) so he was able to.

Magic and Trap Zone (Occupation): You may only contain up to the 5 card limit but in this case you may not activate any more in the zones unles unoccupied.

Magic and Trap (Discarding & Destroying): The only few ways to get rid of a Magic or Trap card is meeting its requirements to be taken off or get it destroyed. You may not discard or remove any Magic and Trap cards on the field for the heck of it.

I hope this helped out and I suggest reading the rulebook before anything else like this happens.

Well, the Elemental Hero Flame Wingman tells me you're talking about Yugioh, which is what I'm going to assume this question is about.

For your first question, you CAN play a magic card on the very first turn of the duel, though you're unable to attack on the very first turn.

When you have 5 Magic/Trap cards, and 1 is active, you cannot destroy or remove any of your cards from play with no reason at all.

Source(s): I've been a Yugioh player for years.

actually ur allowed to play Polmerization on the very first turn, its ur loss if u can negate or stop it

there is nothing in the rule book sayin u cant do that, that is why ur not Allowed to attack on the very first turn because of things like that

and ur 2nd question, wat do u mean? remove from play an active spell or trap card? why would u want to remove it? its just sent to the grave, u can discard a non-used set spell or trap card, because ur not using it, but u cant just discard an active spell or trap card, if Royal Decree is up u cant just say oh im discarding this, it has to be destroyed before its removed

anyways, the first move is always the best for a E-Hero/Neos-Spacian deck, i always loved goin first cuz all ur opponent can do is watch as u make a big move, the only thing ur not Allowed to do on the first turn is Attack, thats it, but if u can fuse, set down some good spells or traps, get a Jinzo out on ur first turn, then u surely got urself in a good spot, an one hell of a hole for ur opponent

The 1st Couple of answer jus dont seam to have a clue! There is nothing to say you cant activate spells on ur 1st turn! though i'd say its a bad strategy to fuse so early on

(very Vulnerable) Secondly no u can jus remove something 4 no good reason. if you could then theres cards that would be able to take advantage of that ie statue of the wicked. U have to calculate what u set. If you've filled up ur S/T card zones then your obviously playing a bad game. either that or you've jus set morphing jar and it's backfired or something. PPL please dont give advice if your not certain it's correct.

    Hope this has helped

    Short answer: no.

    Longer answer: maybe.

In general, standard creatures and summons suffer form a condition called "Summoning sickness" that means that they cannot attack on the turn they are put into play. The may block as normal, but are unable to attack for that first turn.

Some creatures, however, benefit from a feature called "Haste" which allows them to ignore the effects of summoning sickness. I've also seen older cards which do not say "Haste", but merely point out that the creature is unaffected by summoning sickness. These creatures may attack on the turn they are put into play. I'm not sure if the card in question has Haste or not, but I'd guess not. Most creatures do indeed have summoning sickness.

  • there's nothing against the rules about no playing spell, trap, and magic cards on the first turn, and you can set monsters during your first turn, but you can't attack with them. So I'm pretty sure it's ok to summon a fusion monster.

*You can activate Magics on your first turn, it's just too bad you can't stop it.

*And if all your Magic and Trap card Zones are filled up, you can't activate or set another one until a spot is available.

This answer is correct. I can't believe how many answers are here and how many of them are wrong...

the only spell enjoying cards which you would be able to activate for the time of you combatants turn are rapid Play spell enjoying cards like cut back and Mystical area hurricane. so which you would be able to activate cut back once you get attacked. stable success
