swimming... before or after workout?

I stopped working out a little over a year ago. I stopped because I was having my colon removed. I am 6'0" and Before i stopped i was 185lbs benching 170 with no problem. I had a temporary ostomy with a permanent j-pouch. During the first hospital stay i lost 5 pounds, the next hospital stay i lost 10 pounds. Since December i have gone from 170 all the way up to 200 and am now trying to get back into shape. I'm not the best swimmer but being summer i would like to give it a try as far as working out goes. I'm afraid to go into a gym and find out how far my bench press had deteriorated. so... should i swim before or after my workout?

    AFTER

-first of all, u get all wet if u swim before hand plus i think that swimming gives u a chanced to wash all that sweat away and relax but still swim strong. i find that when u swim and ur tired there's this pleasantess about being tired after swimming

Swimming does exercise the muscles and stretches them at the same time---so I would go swimming after a workout to get the benefit of the stretching....
