Can you believe what happened in Hartford, CT with the old man?

Here's the story/video: http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/24982064/

I can't believe no one ran over to this man, no one stopped their car... I can't believe that. What is wrong with people?

Sadly, this is nothing new. There were incidents decades ago wherein someone was being brutally attacked and witnesses nearby did absolutely nothing.

Rest assured there are still many people who will intercede. I've helped people who have fallen, fainted, or suffered injuries. I can't comprehend how anyone could just stand there and not help someone else.

Well according to my psychology class.. nobody helped because everyone thought someone else would do i (psychology of a crowd) However, I think it's more than that. Our society in general has become meaner and coarser of late. Look at the way a lot of men treat women these days. Or the horrible stuff they broadcast on tv. Or how completely self-absorbed so many young people are (and I include myself in that category) It's all connected. And the real tragedy is not that people don't care, its that they don't even realize it...

Sadly people today are too wrapped up in their own little lives to worry about an old man that's just been hit by a car.

The people who didn't do anything and just stood there and watched should be punished...maybe not as hard as the guy who hit him and drove off but they were not doing their part in society by allowing an old man to lay in the middle of the road after being hit.

It was in a poor area. The rest of the story.....a police car is there in 90 seconds if you notice. EMT's were on the scene within three more minutes.

Human nature-no one knew what to do, to even try to stop traffic.

It just shows how selfish and pathetic the human race is..

I would of risked my life to get out of the car and stop traffic to save that man

Yes, this was all over our local news this morning (WTNH-8 local ABC affiliate out of New Haven CT)

Things like this just leave a bad taste in your mouth.

People are so self involved these days they forget to help their fellow man. Well, not all people are that way, but a good deal of them are. It's a sad, sad world we live in.

I guess they were afraid to help.

But jeez... I can't believe it either! Nobody even went over to check if he had a pulse and was breathing! I can understand not wanting to move him since he probably broke his neck or back... but the gall of not going over to see if he needed CPR!!

Thank goodness the cops got there quickly, or he probably would have died.

Source(s): trained in CPR, would've run over to him ASAP

That is so so sad, I can't believe it either, Some people these days just care about others or themselves for that matter.
