Well, have you ever thought that perhaps they *did* use protection, it just failed?

Because, it happens. Alot. So don't judge before you know the WHOLE story.

Accidents happen, and you know what, the people they happen to suffer, whatever the outcome.

    Eurgh.

Some people operate with the "it won't happen to me" mentality, and youth is all about walking around with the air of invincibility. It's a shame really, but there are alot of people out there who have made the best of situations and went on to be great parents and I'm sure they are thankful for the way things worked out.

People make questionable decisions everyday, even grown-*** people who should know better...my only problem is I hate it when people talk about getting pregnant like it's a simple as tripping when you're walking down the stairs...it doesn't just happen, it's a choice to do something or not to do something, as long as people own up to that I'm not mad at all at them.

Oh, give them a break! It's not like they set out to get pregnant and mess up their lives! They just get swept up by their hormones and first loves. One of the functions of hormones is to encourage people to make babies, and they do it not just by fueling a powerful sex drive, but also by clouding their judgment (not very developed in teenagers in the first place) in a euphoric haze. They start out just fooling around with each other, and once they get aroused, their hormones take over. It's not ridiculous at all, it's perfectly natural. Just not appropriate in Western Society.

I am a married pregnant teen. I have also only had one partner and we are married now. I was on BC when I got pregnant, it wasn't planned. But we are making it just fine. My husband is military and we have full and complete healthcare coverage and a steady paycheck. I really think people need to stop making generalizations about teen parents and look at case by case instances.

I think everyone is entitled to their own mistakes, personally, and shouldnt be judged on it, dont get me wrong, i think teens should be more educated on the subject of sex, but i understand that things happen and life doesnt always work in your favor, so sometimes you just have to accept things and take whatever life has to throw at you

Things happen, birth control gets missed, condoms brake and some people think the pull out method works

A lot of people assume teenagers are getting adequate sex-ed.

In NC, there is hardly no discussion about contraceptives, only that they aren't very effective (which is true if you dont know how to use them)

And DEFINITELY NO demonstration on how to put on a condom/how to remove one.

Some teenagers use condoms and get pregnant anyways.

Because the vast majority are stupid, of course. It really doesn't take so much effort to slip on a condom before you have sex. If they break, then you probably bought a crappy one, or you were a little, uh, overzealous with your lovemaking, or an unfortunate combination of the two. It's best to double-up on perhaps a condom and birth-control, so that if one fails, you have the other to rely on. Of course, you *could* do the smart thing and just keep it in your pants until you're ready to face the consequences of having sex. But honestly, who does that anymore... *misanthropic vitriol*

EDIT: Oh, and by the way, you'd have to literally live in a shoe box *not* to know how to have safe sex. Honestly, if teenagers aren't observant enough in sex ed classes or by the Trojan advertisements on TV, for example, then it's their own fault for getting pregnant/knocking someone up. I just feel bad for the baby...

I think it has something to do with the idea that with a condom they really cant feel any thing.... stupid on the girls part if ya ask me, and ya did..lol because when she gets pregnant, she is really gona feel it big time...not to mention std's for both.

Most likely because their parents do not talk to them about safe sex, or about sex at all. My parents didn't and I got pregnant at 17 and got an std. When the doctor said I had an std I said,"What's that?" I was ignorant and wish my parents talked to me about sex. If they did I most likely would have used condoms.
