stimulus tax check?

I am getting ready to move and I was wondering if any one knew if the IRS will forward the check with a change of address through the post office or do I need to contact their office? I know some agency don't forward thats why I was asking

    I would contact them. I do believe they will not forward.

    You should also file a Form 8822 with the IRS. The Post Office DOES forward most income tax checks, contrary to widely held misconception, so the postal forwarding order normally will ensure that your rebate gets to you quickly.

    If the forwarding order is to an area with significant mail theft problems OR has certain fraud indicators (that the Postal Service will not discuss publicly) then they might return it to the IRS. That is the exception to the general rule that tax refunds ARE forwarded unless they are marked "Do Not Forward" and IRS checks do NOT bear that notice.

    Generally no the check wouldn't be forwarded. File form 8822 with the IRS to change your address with them.
