Problems with car starting?
About a month ago I went to get gas when I was done and started my car it turned over and then a few seconds later it quit. I don't think it was the battery because all of the interior lights and headlights were still on. So, I started the car again and it stayed on this time. Well, a few days ago the same thing happened again. I don't think that the battery is the problem because I bought a new one a month before this all started. What could be wrong?
I have a 2000 Honda Accord.

Well, I drive an older model, but.....it could be the fuel pump relay which is fitted under the dash. It's a boxshaped electronuc device, has a multiplug. I had the same problems by the sound of it and replaced it. No more trouble ever since. It would be worse with warmer weather. Although my car is older I think it could be it! Throuhg a forum I learned how to deal with it if it happens, just quickly turn the key to flick the starter shortly, then turn back the key and start. It works, but you'll get fed up with it. The relay cost about 70 euro, 100 A$. It's a bit tricky replacing it, but you'll be happy once it's done. I had to get upside down on the driver's seat, my head on the pedals, feet on the headrest of the seat, take a light and look under behind the dash. Replacing it is all you can do.
Good luck crawling under. And let me know if it worked.

when the car is not running, any electrical items used (radio, headlights, etc) will use the battery's power. when a car is running, the battery gets recharged by the engine - but obviously can only last on recharges for so long. when was the battery last replaced? if you don't know, cant remember, or know it was a long time ago, get a new one. if that doesnt help, have a mechanic look at it. for the future, tell your son if hes going to run the radio like that, he needs to start his car every now and then and let it run for a few minutes to prevent the battery from dying - theyre not cheap.

It could be the fuel pump relay which can be affected when the weather is hot. Also could be the fuel filter. I have 1993 Accord 207,000 miles and was doing similar thing. I replaced fuel filter and as I did I noticed that it had the original fuel filter and it hasn't happened since. I bought car used w/188,000 miles.

This was after you put gas in it so it must be the low quality gas that you are putting in there. One thing that you could do is buy a fuel injector to put in the car and next time you get gas go to a station that has high quality gas(does not have to be premium).

I'd put money on the fuel pump.
Quick fix: Turn the key to "on" (DO NOT start the car). Leave the key there for 5 seconds or so BEFORE starting the engine. The problem shouldn't recur if you do this everytime before you start the car.

couldl be several things, but I would bet it might be your alternator. Go have that checked first. Or you can check it yourself. Just start it up and then disconnect the negative terminal on your battery. If it dies, the alternator is bad.

sounds like your alternator , or I don't think it is your starter since it is turning over but for a best bet take it to a mechanic.

sounds to me like its the gas filter, starting to plug up.
