If McCain Attended Klan Rallies for 20 years, would he be a racist?

Or could he just say he never listened to the speeches?

Update:

FYI, McCain's "****" remark was 8 years ago, specifically aimed at his captors in Vietnam, and he DID apologize for it.

My question was simply meant to point out a double-standard. Obama attends a church where they spew hate against the white race, but we aren't allowed to ask if he might be a racist. If McCain attended Klan rallies for 20 years, there'd be no question in the minds of anyone that he is a racist and "I didn't listen to the speeches" wouldn't save him.

I am astonished at how many people didn't get that you are making a comparison to Obama & that racist church!

I asked a similar question & was surprized how many people didn't get the sarcasm!

If that were the case, the blacks and Dems would be all over his case. The fact that Obama is black makes it ok for him to attend a racist, hate spewing church for twenty years. He can call his grandma a "typical white person," and no one in the liberal media bats an eye. If McCain called someone a "typical black person," his campaign would be over in a matter of seconds. This double standard is what's dividing people, not political parties. I can't stand Obama because he is a racist socialist and I hate his politics. It's not because he is black. If Condi Rice were running, I would vote for her. I think there are more black racists than white racists, but it's not "PC" to call a black a racist, even if he openly hates whites and Jews, like Obama.

It'd probably lead to speculation that he's racist, but you can't say for sure based on just that. Also, some people change.

Rather than your hypothetical, you could just use the real life example that another recent questioner showed.

In 2000, McCain called Asian people "Gooks" and wouldn't apologize for it. This was reported and McCain never apologized. Do you think McCain is racist?

Yes just like Democrat senator Robert Byrd (W. VA)

Both, but you're not suggesting he did that I hope?

He did however, publicly say, "I don't like gooks." Given his experience is Vietnam, I suppose that's understandable, but it's not very presidential and I think we can safely say that he's not getting the Vietnamese vote.

    You are ill-informed!!!!!!!!!!!!

Come back and show where that church spewed racist remarks.

Dissagreeing with a white-racist government is not racist!

    It's free speech!

    he would be...

but I bet you could find more than one or two anti-America videos from 20 years of a clan rally to support your theory that they are racist...

Robert Byrd has, but the democrats give him a pass.

This is a hypothetical that makes no sense. McCain isn't any where close to that suggestion, but Obama on the other hand is.

I'm pretty sure the "Whites just speak differently about issues than blacks" argument wouldn't fly.
