A "good" receptionist can work a multi-line phone, have a pleasant attitude and appearance, is good with customers, can multi-task, can type at least 50 wpm, and knows how to keep secrets.

These are the things that I'd look for in a receptionist.

They'll probably ask you questions about your professionalism on the phone and verbal communication skills. They'll want to make sure you are someone who is pleasant and organized. If it is an entry level position and they know you don't have experience, they probably ask questions about how quickly you can learn, because you will need to be trained on how to route calls, send messages to voicemail, etc. I think most companies use phone systems by Avaya.

Do your HW. Research into the company and their history. Make sure your resume is up to date and use quality paper to print it out on.

Sample questions: Why should I hire you?, What is your weakness?, Have you done this type of work?, etc. Don't forget to as the interviewer questions too.

You should just relax and be yourself. Be prepared to talk about your strengths but don't just mention your strengths...be able to back it up with some evidence. Also be prepared to talk about your weaknesses, but put a positive spin on them.
