Restaurants in Maui?
I'd like to get a gift certificate as a wedding gift to my boss who is honeymooning in Maui and the Big Island. Any suggestions on a 3 star (no chains). Maybe local favorites?
She is staying at Waikoloa Beach Marriott Resort & Spa and Wailea Beach Marriott Resort & Spa
Thank you all for the great responses! I went with Mama's Fish House.

I rate Mama's Fish House one of the best restaurant in Hawaii. The restaurant at Kilauea Lodge is the best on the Big Island.

I live on Maui, and on the west side in Kapalua is SANSEI, or the Pineapple Grill. They are excellent. In Kaanapali there is the Hula Grill which is right on the ocean at Whalers Village. On the other side of the Island, on the Kihei side, there is a SANSEI restaurant, or go to Wailea to the Grand Wailea Hotel. I don't go over there too much for dinner, I prefer Kapalua. Sansei is very local, but very good. You need reservations in advance like a day or two, if they are busy.

Where on Maui is he staying?
A really fun place in Kihei is LuLu's. Not fine dining by any means, but a great place where locals go to have a drink and a bite to eat.
Charley's, on the Hana Highway in Pa'ia is another fun place, however they recently had a fire and I'm not sure if they've reopened.
I'm not sure how much you want to spend, but if you want to splurge, the Old Lahaina Lu'au is a must do on Maui. Your boss and new bride will abslultely love it.
The Kula Cafe in Kula (3,500 ft up Haleakala) is a great place too, for breakfast and dinner.

It really depends on what type of food you want? There are literal 100's of places to eat. Most Hotels & Resorts each have a couple. When visitsors ask me what the most popular place to eat is? I give the same answer as a couple have already. McDonalds. But for me I have one very special place I enjoy eating at, and often take guest. It is my Home on Maui.

Your Boss and her new husband or vice versa will LOVE you forever if you get them a gift certificate to "The Hula Grill" at Whalers Village in Kaanapali. It is located RIGHT on the beach and the Sunset from your table is like something out of a dream...plus the food is delicious...then there is Hula Grills sister restaurant "Leilanis"..a touch more laid back but just as good.If you are looking for something less formal and a little less expensive..."Cheeseburger in Paradise" Fun atmosphere, Good Food...GREAT Location on Front Street in Lahaina...on the Ocean. Then there is Chez Paul..Great French Food...little more expensive.

I liked the Pioneer Inn in Lahaina. Happy Hour Mai Tai's were $4 and the Shrimp Scampi was $15.95. I was shocked. It was an open air bar that had a Key West feel to me. After dinner we walked across the street to watch the sunset and a fish boat return.

Mama's Fish House sounds like it should be a dive. Believe me, it's not. It's a swanky place on the beach near the surfer town of Paia.
$50 should cover most of their dinner--maybe not the drinks. $75 might get you closer to dinner, drinks, and dessert.
They'd better make reservations!

Lulu's in Kihei is a great place for dinner/drinks and has an
"island" atmosphere. Sensai (like someone else mentioned..) is great for sushi! Both are casual/jeans..
Fat Daddy's in Kihei has really good BBQ.
What a nice gift to get them. Any place you pick will be greatly appreciated I'm sure. Food is not cheap in Hawaii...

Cheese Burger in Paridice is a chain, but has the best food in Hawaii hands down.
