Should I install XP SP3 or I should stick with XP SP2?

I have downloaded SP3 from the official web site. But I've had one problem when I install clean copy of XP SP2 and if I install SP3 before I install my drivers there is no way you can install sound drivers this also happened to another PC i have instaled SP3. But if i install it afrer i install the drivers everything is ok. So should I install SP3 or stay wiht SP2 and is there a lot of diference between SP2 and SP3. TNX for the answers.

Post SP3 installation should not prevent you from being able to install sound drivers. SP3 is a round-up of security and minor performance updates - and it's recommended you install it for the security benefits alone. Problems you've experienced with one computer is unlikely to occur on another unless they have similar or identical hardware.

SP3 is not that big an overhaul of XP.

SP2 was much larger in comparison.

For your info, I installed SP3 right after a fresh install of XP SP2 (Home) without problems.

You can always uninstall SP3 as if it were a program via [Add/Remove programs] if it causes problems. All the changes are reversible, so you should be able to proceed and install it.

Leave SP3 where you got it. It'll work there, but it will only screw up your computer. DON'T install it. The first answer told you this, and that if you have kept up your XP updates, SP2 is all you need.

SP3 contains things you simply don't need, even Microsoft says that, albeit in teeny, tiny print. SP3 is really for servers, so unless your setup is a server, leave it alone.

u should install sp3 cos it contains updated files of sp2 which helps improve your system performance. I've installed sp3 3 myself and i tell u, am really enjoying it cos it has majorly more security features than sp2

If you have problems like this and you don't want to deal with it, stick with SP2. I have SP3, but I don't see a difference.

Yes definately SP3 offers a performance gain , but it is not a bugfix as SP1 was so your Windows would run just fine even if you keep using SP2 .

Stick with SP2, as many people have been having serious issues with SP3. Theres really no reason for the average user to bother upgrading anyway, as long as you've regularly been downloading Windows updates.
