'Teacup' Chihuahuas are just very small, smaller than many other regular sized Chihuahuas. A 'tiny' Chihuahua is just the same as a teacup: a very small Chihuahua. I would not recommend getting an extremely small Chihuahua though, as they are prone to having more health problems than regular sized Chihs. A friend of mine had a 'teacup' Chihuahua, and it died at two years old from heart problems related to it's small size. I personally have a 9 pound, purebred Chihuahua, and she has been the best behaved and healthiest dog I've ever had.
If you want any more information on Chihuahuas, please feel free to contact me. I love talking with anyone who shares a love of Chihuahuas!

Sadly, there is no such thing as a "teacup chihuahua." Chihuahuas do come in all sorts or sizes and colors,yes.. but they are of the TOY family. A teacup chihuahua is simply the offspring of a small chihuahua.. leading the breeder to believe that these chihuahuas will be small. However, due to genes passed throughout chihuahuas, two very small chihuahuas may produce larger offspring. A "teacup chihuahua" is really only a regular chihuahua that breeders have given a ritzy name to, expecting people to pay more for a puppy that will be smaller than the average. Even then, your puppy may turn out to be up to 6 or 8 pounds. Anyone who is selling you these puppies as "teacup chihuahuas" is already proving their ignorance by labeling a dog with a fictional breed. Showing their ignorance, the breeder has also poorly bred these chihuahuas.. leading to many health problems, and possibly bad traits, such as yappy or rather mean dogs. As you will have the same chance of having a small dog either way, i would suggest you check into the chihuahuas costing $150. These people obviously have more sense.. and seem much more responsible.

there is no difference.. both are poorly bred runts from unethical breeders.
Chihuahuas only come in ONE recognized size.. they are just Chihuahuas.. that is it. There are no "toys, tiny, teacup, mini, or micro-mini" versions.
A Chihuahua is already a very small dog.. under 6 pounds.
Chis that are purposly bred to be tiny ussually suffer many health problems, such as: hydrocephalus, seizure disorders, hypoglycemia, liver shunt, etc... as well as health problems that are common within the breed. Many of them do not live more than a few years.
If you want a Chi, I suggest you try rescue http://www.petfinder.com/ or search for a reputable breeder.. get a referral from the breed's parent club http://www.chihuahuaclubofamerica.com/

'Teacup' and 'Tiny' are labels used by irresponsible breeders to entice uneducated people into buying poorly bred puppies for high prices.
You wouldn't buy a puppy if it was advertised as "Mutant, Freak of nature puppies"- thats basically what teacup means. These dogs have been bred by mating runts to runts over many generations. Many die very young but if they are lucky enough to live to adulthood, they are likely to have trouble with their internal organs.
Now, rant over- Buy from a reputable breeder- get details from the kennel club or a breed society. A chihuahua which meets the breed standard is small enough

There is no such thing as a teacup chihuahua they are just the runt of the pack, so it makes sence to call them that but they really are jsut chihuahuas.

Any "teacup" dogs are poorly bred, sickly little runts that are sold for waaaay too much than they're worth, and will cost his or her owner more money in the future because of their poor breeding. Anyone who breeds "teacup" dogs are backyard breeders or puppy mills and should be steered clear of.
Real Chihuahuas are the better choice.
Chihuahuas (normal sized) are great dogs, but they are not for everybody
Here is information on the breed that will help you decide whether or not this breed is right for you.

I love my teacup chihuahua. We inherited her when her human mom died. She is smart, healthy, friendly and people say she is the smallest dog they ever saw. Some confuse her for a cat. The cats watch her with intense curiosity - it looks like they are trying to figure out what she is. She can be ferocious, friendly, playful, hungry, sleepy, and she talks -- all sorts of different sounds that are like a baby, a piglet, a chicken, etc.

Owner of 2 registered chihuahua. Everyone is right no such thing. Breeder is selling you a runt for more than you could purchase a healthy chihuahua.

There's no such thing as a teacup chi. People who are selling a 'teacup' dog is really selling an overpriced, sickly runt. Check out a chi breed rescue.
