i am on vista ... installed an older version of yahoo... but am unable to get chat as an option on my comp...?

Is it other than 8.1 ? If so, try getting it. Or try Messenger for Vista, it has less features but it is specially programmed for Vista, I tried it but I downgraded to 8.1. And what's your Vista? Mine is Home Premium Genuine.
