Are you feeling the pinch of more expensive fuel, could you live without a car?

I find it very easy, I've told friends of mine to simply take the bus, cut out pointless journeys or downgrade to a more effiecient car. I've actually saved money by eliminating journeys that I don't really need to do, in the first place.

What about you?

Thanks for answering.

I got rid of my car. Moved to the city - live in a grand apartment building in the middle of the cultural district. Subway is across the street and buses and cabs abound. Train station a few blocks away for longer trips and airport a cab-ride away - can always rent a car on the rare occassion I need one. Most of my friends have went from two cars to one and many are ditching them all together. HOWEVER that is easy to do in the big cities. Many around here never DID drive....never had to. I live in Pittsburgh and other big cities like NYC or Boston, Chicago, etc, etc...easy enough to do. I feel for the people way out in the burbs or in the country cuz they don't have these options.

well my town does not have a bus and i can't walk everywhere i need to go.... Cabs would defeat the purpose as they are more expensive then driving myself. We already sold my fullsize van cause it was to expensive to fill up (that was 2 years ago) so now we've got a small pickup.....you always need one of these for something around here lol... I am on the pta so i'm always "carting" something somewhere for somebody....or our own stuff somewhere... it gets a lot better gas mil. than the van...

Unfortunately we live in the country away from a bus route so our car is vital to us, since my son is disabled. One good thing is we recently got a diesel which is saving us far more money than our old car was using in petrol.

Trying but I have to travel for my job and public transport is generaly crap. The tax allowance the government allow doesn't cover the actual cost of motoring but no travel = no job= no pay = can't pay bills!

Did you know, Missouri actually has the lowest amount of gas prices in the States?

I'm just thankful for that...Even if it is still alot.

Hey I can manage just fine without a car.

At these gasoline prices my response to the --stards who think I'll pay their high prices just to get their " precious" gasoline at their f-----g high prices because I " can't live " without it can take their fuel and shove it!

    It's not bugging me.

I'll probably be the only one driving when/if it hits $10/gal.
